Teacher Training CELTA

Introduction

Britannia is a Cambridge teacher training centre. In our Ipanema branch we offer the CELTA course for English teachers who seek an international qualification.

Testimonials

Fabiano Costa:
I have been an English teacher for 13 years now and although the CELTA is meant to be an initial qualification for people with little or no previous teaching experience, it has been a watershed in my professional life. It is true that the course meant a lot of work but you know what they say: “No pain, no gain”. In my case, I have gained a lot.

Tania Soibelman:
The Celta is a unique experience because it is essentially hands-on. It puts your teaching skills on focus, so you are a hundred per cent aware of your strengths and weaknesses, which greatly improves your professional development. This is achieved through deep interaction between colleagues and mentors, through a format you will not find anywhere else.

Nolan Sutker:
I took the part time CELTA course in March 2010. I had only been in Brazil for two months and had previously finished a Masters in Education in the United States. The course was much more than I expected. I learned about lesson structure, grammar, classroom culture and building context. My tutors were diverse and allowed me to see different teaching styles. I would highly recommend the CELTA course at Britannia as it has and continues to serve me well with my teaching.

Bruno Schubnel:
At first, I thought of CELTA as a certificate that would open doors to other courses in Brazil as well as in other countries. I had made up my mind to take it, mainly to improve my CV. What I couldn`t imagine was the change it would make in the way I teach, clearly seen even when I use methods different from the communicative approach. I didn`t only learn new techniques , I also learned a new point of view about what teaching a foreign language might be. It was a really rewarding experience, and that has been useful in every class I teach nowadays.
